This spring I had the chance to spend more time with my brother priests – both from the Archdiocese of OKC at the Chrism Mass, and priests from the Diocese of Austin at the Summer Gathering last week at Horseshoe Bay. I had almost forgotten how much fun it was to be with a group of men who are so funny, talented, bright, and talkative! It was just like being back in seminary days. Most of these men are very happy in their chosen vocation and they carry their joy in the brightness of their smiles. Our Church needs more priests. We need priests who are short, fat and shy, and priests who are slim, tall and extrovert. We need priests who like to read, priests who like to fish and hunt, and even priests who play the banjo. We need priests who are farm-raised and those who are free-range fed. Y, especialmente, necesitamos sacerdotes que hablen español. The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Please invite a young man to consider this life…a different kind of fatherhood…but one that promises much joy. - - - Fr. Jim
